DESCRIPTION

The Controller will report directly to the CIT Bank CFO and will be responsible for overseeing the Bank's general ledger, coordinating external and internal audits, as well as managing and providing guidance to a staff of 6 team members.

The Controller will also be responsible for:
• Driving the month end close, conducting variance analyses, and preparing financial statements.
• Reviewing non-recurring journal entries.
• Establishing and implementing systems and procedures.
• Spearheading the development of a top-notch accounting team.
• Protecting the Bank’s assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance for FDICIA and SOX.
• Maintaining financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
• Maintaining staff job results via performance management, (e.g. coaching, counseling and disciplining employees)
• Coordinating accounting with Bank subsidiaries.
• Preparing quarterly call report.
• Coordinating preparation of quarterly 10Q reports for parent.
• Coordinating preparation of annual audited financial statements for Bank.
• Fostering a collaborative team oriented environment that fosters passion for the work.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Master’s and/or CPA desired.
• More than 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Banking industry experience strongly preferred.
• Must have hands-on transactional accounting experience or public accounting/audit experience.
• Experience with regulators is a plus.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including GAAP and related pronouncements.
• Demonstrated experience managing employees.
• Outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
