DESCRIPTION

This position is the primary owner for the enterprise wide reserving process including methodology, documentation, process management, reviews/approval, forecasting and validation. The role is critical to maintaining robust and accurate reserves on the various sub-portfolios and the CIT lease and loan portfolio in total. The position requires significant interaction with several groups within the organization (including Finance, the Segments/BUs, Corporate Risk Management and executive management).

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Collect and analyze data to support the effectiveness of the allowance for loan & lease losses (ALLL) process and other credit risk management activities (across various business units and commercial industries)
• Develop, produce, and analyze business unit reporting that supports a fact based decision making process around the ALLL and its adequacy
• Develop, produce, aggregate and analyze reports on origination activity, account management activity and delinquency trends for forecasting purposes and peer analysis
• Work with business units and CRM to compile and compute risk factors that could be used in determining the allowance for loan & lease losses
• Drive the ongoing improvement of data, data collection, data analysis and reporting; and contribute to the effectiveness of data analysis and reporting tools
• Remain current on data availability, statistical analysis tools and techniques in the industry for forecasting potential losses/delinquencies and other credit risk metrics
• Remain current on changes to accounting and regulatory guidelines around the ALLL and associated risk management activities

• Analyze the ALLL processes and provide recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency. Recommend standardization and best practices among business unit/CRM activities around the ALLL on an on-going basis
• Develop, update or modify existing policies and procedures per Senior Management directives

Key additional activities will include:
• Understand and improve upon the existing ALLL process and activities.
• Act as an additional liaison between the business units and CRM and Senior Management.
• Drive changes to the statistical techniques used around the ALLL methodology
• Maintain procedural documents to ensure consistency across different business functions and departments involved in the ALLL process
• Work with other departments to establish relationships, provide expertise and communicate research/reporting results

BA / Masters combination in the fields of business, finance and statistics with elective courses requiring writing/presentations.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience working at a bank in a commercial lending/risk management capacity.
• Additional desired experience to include: Finance / FP&A and/or underwriter or portfolio manager in a commercial lending capacity and as part of a risk management group desired


REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong business sense/ability to understand commercial lending businesses & industries.
• Strong Excel skills (Power user with VBA knowledge preferred)
• Close attention to detail
• Understanding of BASEL concepts around probability of default (PD)& Loss Given Default (LGD) would be beneficial
• Ability to conceptualize, research, compile & present relevant stats to the Senior Leadership verbally or in writing
• Analytic/Systematic/Conceptual thinker
• Strong database skills
• Knowledge of databases & statistics/statistical methods
• Good presentation skills
• Creativity in using presentation software
• Ability & confidence to communicate with Senior Management
• Ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently & within teams
• Understanding & experience in project management concepts
• SAS or similar data analysis software experience
