Director, OR1 Engineering Design and Development (1124)

Description:

The Director of OR1 Engineering Design and Development will be based in Houston and will report to the Executive Director of OR1 Strategic Operations. The Director of OR1 Engineering will be responsible for all design and development initiatives related to integrated operating room deliverables. The Director of OR1 Engineering will manage a team of employees including the following roles: CAD drafting, network engineering, software and hardware engineers, sustaining engineers, Q/A Service engineers, and a/v integration engineers. The Director of OR1 Engineering will closely collaborate with the Karl Storz global R&D initiatives (i.e. KSI, Germany, Japan and KSEA) to ensure international synergy and congruent design and development goals and objectives. The Director of OR1 Engineering will manage design and development timelines related to integration. Strong experience and leadership in both A/V and I.T. engineering is preferred. The Director of OR1 Engineering will also collaborate with the Executive Director of OR1 Sales and Marketing, field sales and sales management personnel, and executives of multiple departmental functions. The Director of OR1 Engineering will determine what can and cannot be produced technically, and will ultimately manage the design and development of integrated systems that will meet the needs of KSEA customers.

Essential Functions:

3) Level of decision making: Wide variety of managerial tasks
4) Has contact with: Inside and outside the co., customers of all levels, industry partners, executives
5) Interview, hire, terminate, and provide/oversee training and developmental needs of engineering team
6) Coordinate company compliance initiatives with Regulatory personnel
7) Possess strong diplomatic communication skills when collaborating with international counterparts
8) Create and manage development timelines and controlling documents for projects and initiatives
9) Ensure that design and modification specs are properly produced and tested
10) Ensure that design specifications meet needs of customers
11) Ongoing communication with Operations, Production, Logistics, Sales and Marketing
12) Manage all integration R&D efficiencies and ensure adequate resource allocation
13) Work closely with Manager of Production/Assembly, Manager of Production Process, Manager of
Quality Assurance, and all Sales functions representing the needs of customers

Required Skills:

1. A minimum education level of a Bachelors Degree in Engineering
2. Minimum 7-10 years engineering managerial experience
3. Possesses exceptional organizational and communication skills and customer-centric mindset
4. Background and competency in electromechanical/audio-visual technology/quality control
